Hey. This message assumes you're blind. GPS has actually been catching on from what I hear with blinks so I was wondering what anyone who has it thinks about it and what anyone who doesn't thinks. Personally I see no reason to get it as I get around where I live fine but might it be useful for other places? Plus you have all this gear on you including an earpiece which might (in my mind) interfeer with the link between you and the rest of the world. I think that I can still get around fine if I have people I know with me or if it is a metropolitan area like NYC, but I'd see it's use for sailiing and other stuff. Write down your thoughts.

It's great for me, attending a large university, all the buildings are already plotted as points of interest so rather then have to learn a fricken huge campus I can just find my way from one building to another, weather it be a quartor mile away, or two miles away with out having to memorize specific roots.

i just moved to another state and don't know the area to well or have made to many friends to help me out, besides i would rather be able to do it on my own, but anyway i'm planning on getting training using the gps and will let you know what i really think about it when i start using it, but with being in a new area i think it will be a good idea, and i don't think you need the ear peace in your ear all the time.

Hi friends! This is my first posting! I use trekker sistem with GPS everyday and it's great! You always can create a diferent points of interest that can help you when you move in a open spaces or just to know a intermediate points that will help you to arrive where you want! GPS also gives you a correct distances beetwen points: this feature helps you to get a new idea of areas that you never know before! Finally, I want say that is little bit complicated to know how it works on the beginning but after it becomes so useful! But pay atention: GPS doesn't make the dog's work! Trekker just tells you where you are and what's the good direction to take...

Like how much was yours?

You don't need an earpiece to use GPS. I have a Braillenote, and just read this display to get the information.

As previously stated, you don't have to use an ear peice. I have a braille note gps and it has really helped me to learn more about the town while riding in vehicles. I know what streets we are on and which intersections we cross. Unless the driver slows down or stops for a stop light, I usually have no idea that we are traveling through intersections. Also, it helped me on a trip I took once out of town to visit a friend. I had to take a cab to his appartment and the cab driver almost went the wrong way. I could tell him directions since I had my gps and I got to my friend's appartment because of it. I agree that if you are always in the same area and know it like the back of your hand, gps may not be for you. But if you travel to unfamilar areas or want to learn more about your surroundings, gps is a wonderful tool. It doesn't take the place of a cane or guide dog but works as a suplamental tool.

I use a Pacmate, SATBT338 reciever, and Street talk. Love all of it, and find all of it very useful--in vehicles and when walking. I will very much need it in Los Angeles.

Good evening all. I use Trekker and a rather awesome Golden Retriever to navigate my way through life, the world and everything. Some excellent points have been brought up and I would like to repeat one of them. Trekker and any other GPS unit is a suplamental (man if I could only spell) travel aide and does not replace the dog, the cane or simple comen (there I go again) sense. Please!!! when traveling with your canine companion make him or her your primary focus. It is so easy to get distracted by the GPS and stop alot or try tu read it while walking that the furrball thinks either somethinkg is wrong, he or she did somethinkg wrong or just sorta loses interest and starts engaging in doggie behaivior such as sniffing.
I had a wonderful experience with Willie and Trekker yesterday. I was looking for a doctors office and had plotted a route. the little bell went off and said I was there but I wasn't able to fined it. I then turn around and walked a block and used trekker to find out what address I was near. after that I told Willie inside and belive it or not it was the right office. Also, James or would that be James's:(let's see, how many of you were there in that profile) really liked that one.. I thought the same as you: why would I want one of these thinkgs. I got my hands on one and what really made me continue to use it was traveling through an area that I didn't know. I was able to plot a route and it got me there. I was quite amazed and now use it when traveling through unfamiliar areas or even in town if I need to go to an address that I have never been too. Okay! back in to my little box I go... Night,night....woof,wooff...
